The Mission starts, Pyranha mission boats are in...

Words by Co,Bob Camboline (comander in charge Pyranha)
"Pyranha shall go on to the end, we shall Paddle in France, we shall surf on the seas and oceans, we shall paddle with growing confidence and growing strength on big drops, we shall explore our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall take mission boats to the beaches, we shall boldly go to the creek runs, we shall paddle in the play holes and in the waves, we shall paddle in the hills; we shall never stop playing the river, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated to sever water shortages, then our team paddlers beyond the seas, armed with special edition mission boats made by our British Factory, would carry on the paddling, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its monsoons and heavy down pours might, steps forth to the rescue and the irrigation of the old."

The boats are here, If you fancy 1 of only 30 limmited edition boats avalibel in the UK come on down. "if you want to do a bandit run, better learn to be a bandit!" £799-00 Ltd stock now in

Sunbury Nights.....

With all the snow, wind and rain the Thames has shot right up again!. Shepperton is back to a super 10 and Sunbury is on 6. After the little Accident at the weir, with the pleasure boat! one of the middle gates seams not be working. As a result there is a big old hole of doom in the middle and two very nice waves either side. Last night with the rain still falling me and Mike headed down to do battle once more. Good night Vienna!.

Tsunami Kid and Pete do Shoreham!

"Yesterday me and Rich headed out to Shoreham for some surfing action, the account below is from the Tsunami Kid"

After checking out the spots we decided to paddle round to 'the corner or death', where a massive turbulent swell builds and smashes against the harbour arm! This is one of the few spots in the globe where you get huge waves coming parallel to the beach as well as onto it.

For those of you who aren't familiar with kayak surfing, your supposed to have a nice long surfboard shaped boat that you can carve smoothly across the wave, but we (the royal we) don't do that! I've got a tiny boat and my technique involves paddling hard, holding tight while the breaking wave powers me up-to speed and then bouncing around pulling as many moves as possible!

I'd managed to catch a handful of 10ft beasts and survive without meeting the wall or beach so when I saw the biggest wave ever on the horizon I went for it.

Sitting at the top of the pile I was faced with a giant 15ft drop down into the trough. I braced myself for impact and launched off the face, after landing I was surfing the monster but was surrounded by foam and sucking in seawater! The wave eased off, time for my escape before imminent collision but my brief glimmer of hope was snatched way as the wave built and I was tearing down the face again only this time I was in the 'Aerial Zone' and facing a barrage of waves coming parallel to the beach. As I screamed into the trough a parallel wave smashed into me, launching me into the air and flipping me vertically.
A quick roll and the beach was fast approaching. No turning back, hold tight and prepare for Shorehams infamous beach dump!

Well, I survived, and although there was no route back out for me I watched Pete have another half hour playing before we decided to try a different spot.

We paddled back into the harbour where the sweetest 6ft clean waves were rolling in. A few phat aerial moves later we were done and happy with a great end to the day.

Thanks to Pete.

A Wave with big Nut's

It's been a quiet weekend for paddling, Mike was cold so went out on his bike, I was sick so spent most of the weekend by my loo, and George was down at London Zoo for a day out with the Family!. luckily Jon boy is still in Africa and paddling every day, he has sent this pic in of him surfing a wave called Mutts Nut's? sounds very nice too! L8r.....

Visiting this wave has become a regular event for the team on the Lemon.
It is proving to be great training for all big wave moves. JB

speeder size!

We have had lot's of people in the shop over the last few weeks asking about the new Pyranha Speeder. We don't have it yet, but it should be here soon (ish) some info and specs from the men up north below.....

(The Big Mac "prototypeing")

Well after talking to a lot of people over the last few years we realised there were a lot of paddlers out there who wanted to cruise not ‘huck’, who wanted to eat miles not rocks and who often told us

“there are far more stretches of wild rivers without play waves than there are with!”

So we set about giving them a Pyranha boat too.

The Speeder was developed with these people in mind. It combines the swiftness of a thoroughbred river racer with the manoeuvrability of a much shorter kayak. The rear storage hatch allows for longer trips and camping and its dry ride is a breeze in reasonable rapids.

The rear wings give it excellent stability when leaned over and the neat heart rate monitor / GPS mount lets you see just how far you have come and how hard you are working. A kayak to meet the challenges of many wild and scenic rivers on longer trips or simply keeping fit out on the water.

Initial Pre Production stats are:

Length Width Volume Paddler range
Speeder 4.5m
14’ 7” 60cm
23 ½” 360Lts
95 Gal 55 to 120kgs
121 to 265lbs

The Speeders going to be a lot of fun on a lot of rivers. Nipping out for a paddle during lunchtime has just become a reality for a lot more people too

Hurley Vision.

Early tuesday we got the message from Graeme, the tree had gone, Hurly was on!. I really haven't paddled Hurly for a long time and it was a nice surprise to only find a couple of other paddlers down there. Good level, good weather, good fun. The pictures below are of the other guys on the water, sorry I din't get your names?.
