better than you think.....
Now if i'm to be honest this picture doesn't look great! but last night the second wave, the one you can't see very well in the picture was great. Really fast and surgey. It's been a bumper few days paddling around the shop on my own, Tuesday I even got to surf Shepperton on 6 gates! in skins! how good's that then. Back to Chertsey tonight for some more Squirting. And maybe some better pictures if I can get Matt or Darr to paddle.
L8r,
June boating & the King of Lienz…..
How’s about that, It’s June the sun is hiding and there is a slight nip in the air. But how cares the rain has been falling thick and fast over the last few days and the Thames is back up and running! Shepperton is on a fun little 4 (fine if you have a long boat) and Sunbury is on, well most things really! Going from left to right, 1 shut, 2 fully open, 3 shut, 4 open a bit, 5 shut, 6 fully open, 7 shut. What this is doing is not a whole lot really. If you paddle like a sun of a gun you can make a small hole in the middle (it’s alright) but other wise it’s just nice to have a look! I’ve never seen it like it before…….. Oh and Chertsey is all open, fish ladder is a bit washed out but the left hand eddy is great for squirting. I don’t really have any pictures today (sorry) Mike is of on a jolly with Steve (from Nookie) picking up secret weapons from Germany, and Jon boy is of on a European adventure,
(Jon Boy in the hole, Bomchickawahwah! )
One last thing, a quick well done to Jon boy, who has just won the Euro cup event at Lienz (Austria). Well done Jon boy we are all very proud of you……. Keep it up……..
Esquif, back in town.....
After a bit of a wait Esquif -

Four!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hurley was on one and it wasn’t quite sunny enough for squirt boating at Chertsey! So after a busy day at work phoning charity shops to see what Golf equipment they had in stock it was down to the “barn” Sheppertons top golf course for the first Whitewater the Canoe Centre challenge cup! Golf match……
All the big names were present George “tiger” Woods captained one team wile Darr “Westwood” Breedon lead the other team. Mike played with George, Pete played with Darr. It was a close game of match play (Just like the Ryder Cup) after the 18 holes Darr and Peter “Poulter” scutt came out victorious. George and Mike “Ells” Scutt battled hard but just lost out.
(Darr send a long one down the 9th)(Head down, Hit it....don't tickle it)(overall winner Pete lines one up)(George goes wading)(The player in the 19th hole.....)
Enter the dragon….
Well last week if you can’t remember that far back it rained, Hard. The river shot up and for 5 more days we court Shepperton and Sunbury at some ok levels. The problem with Shepperton and Sunbury is that the pool levels need to be fairly high to produce the best waves and we really didn’t have quite enough water for that! However that said we did get a few cracking days out on the water. Just before all the water goes Sunbury produces a wicked little spot, if you can catch it on 1 and a half gates right in the far left corner with a very low pool level a monster hole pops up. Remember the weir seal is only 60cm below your boat and of you go, Tuck up tight Enjoy……
(Mike & Bill)(Bill enjoys the second wave back)(Norm takes the plunge)(Mikey takes the Agent for a mission)
Pinch, Punch and a Slap in the Eye....
Well it's the first of June and Shepperton is still going good! We arrived this morning bright and breezy and received the normal welcome from the local paper boy. Then off to the weir, 6 gates today + a large pleasure boat just for a bit more fun.
(A new feature at the weir!) (That made a great littel wave!)
