A sorry day at Shepperton

Yesterday I had a day off so as normal I popped into Shepperton to go for a paddle, when I arrived it was clear something was not quite right. Vandals (Mindless Muppets) had set fire to two cruisers and then cut them free from their moorings, the two burning boats (Viking burial styleie) then drifted down river, one boat ending up in the lock cut. The second and larger of the two (some 27ft) floated down and broached across the weir, this in turn set fire the roof of the weir walk way. Eventually the fire service arrived and put out the fire by this point however the remains of the boat had sunk just up stream of the weir gates. Yesterday some 20 odd members of the EA took over 6 hours to remove all the remains. If you are paddling at Shepperton please be careful, however things seam to be back to normal. For now!
